At the ÖGHTG annual meeting on May 31, 2023, Michael Graber won the Wolfgang Denk-Preis for his paper “Prevention of Oxidative Damage in Spinal Cord Ischemia Upon Aortic Surgery: First‐In‐Human Results of Shock Wave Therapy Prove Safety and Feasibility”.
Can Gollmann-Tepeköylü received the Kardinal-Innitzer-Award 2020 for his work on regenerative heart medicine in the Episcopal Palace in Vienna on November 6th.
Can Gollmann-Tepeköylü represented CARE Lab at the 48th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery (DGTHG) in Wiesbaden, Germany. His work on “Thoracic radiation induces Toll-Like receptor mediated calcific aortic valve disease“ was awarded the “Ethicon Award“ for the best scientific abstract of the congress.
CARE labs’ reserach on spinal cord regeneration was featured in JATROS – Neurology and Psychiatry, an Austrian neurology newspaper.

In September 2018, Can Gollmann-Tepeköylü received a research grant from the “Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Herz-Kreislauf-Forschung in Tirol“ (GHKF) to continue his work on radiation induced valve disease.

CARE Lab actively participated at the Annual Meeting of the Austrian Society for Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery in Salzburg in June 2018. Michael Graber and Jakob Hirsch were nominated for their work on aortic valve calcification and radiation induced heart failure as Basic Research Highlights 2018 and presented during the Highlights Session.
