The “CARE Lab“ actively participated at the ESC congress in Barcelona with 2 oral presentations. Johannes Holfeld presented his latest work on exosome release upon shock wave therapy, while Can Tepeköylü reported our results concerning the pathophysiology of aortic valve calcification. The study was awarded as „Basic Science Research Highlight 2017“ during the closing ceremony and was chosen amongst more than 10.000 abstracts . Our work describes a crucial mechanism of calcification and the discovery of a knock-out strain which does not develop the phenotype of calcific aortic valve disease.
